About Department

The Department of Commerce was established in the year 2010 with the objective of promoting quality education in the field of commerce and business studies. Since its inception, the department has been committed to nurturing academic excellence, professional competence, and ethical values among students.

The department initially introduced the B.Com (General) 3-Year Degree Course, designed to provide students with a strong foundation in core areas such as Accounting, Business Management, Finance, and Taxation.

A significant transition took place in 2016 with the introduction of the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS), which remained in operation up to 2021. This phase marked a shift towards flexibility in curriculum, allowing students to choose subjects across disciplines and promoting a credit-based evaluation system.

In 2022, the department adopted the framework of the National Education Policy (NEP-2020), leading to the introduction of the B.Com (Honours) 3+1 FYUGP Programme. This reform brought a multidisciplinary approach, Skill Enhancement Courses, Value-added learning, and research orientation, offering multiple exit options and aligning education with global standards.

Throughout its journey, the department has remained committed to:

Academic excellence and curriculum innovation.

Student-centric and outcome-based education.

Skill development and employability enhancement.

Preparing students for higher studies and professional careers.

With a legacy of continuous growth and adaptation, the Department of Commerce continues to strive towards providing quality education that meets both academic and industry expectations.
